The output will be longer, but it will be something you can actually use in a board deck — not just a vague "it depends."

When Not to Use It

Chain-of-Thought is not free. It increases token usage, which means higher latency and cost. It also tends to make the output longer, which is not ideal when you need a quick one-liner or a structured data format like JSON.

Skip the step-by-step when:

  • The task is purely creative (brainstorming titles, writing jokes).
  • You need raw data extraction with no interpretation.
